Select three strings.

Tie a knot at one end.

Cross the right string over the middle string.

Cross the left string over the middle string.

Cross the right string over the middle string.

Cross the left string over the middle string.

Continue to do this ensuring you keep the plait tight.

You can add beads whenever you wish by threading a bead through one of the strings.

Continue to plait as before.

Once you have approximately 4 cm left at the end of the strings tie a knot.

Congratulations you have made a plait!

You can now make a necklace or bracelet for example.
